What races are prone to having sensitive skin?
Posted on 06. Jan, 2012 by Skin Expert.
My family are prone to having sensitive skin. I’m not sure if sensitive skin relates to the fact that I have a very thin skin layer on my cheeks which shows the blood vessels. I’m Scandinavian-Mongolian descent.

My sensitive skin problem…?
Posted on 14. Sep, 2011 by Skin Expert.
Well, I’m a 17 year old kid (male), and I’ve been struggling with acne throughout highschool and some of middle school. I got help from my dermatologist to get rid of my acne last year, she prescribed me: doxycyclen pills, tretinoin cream, and clindamycin gel. In fact, this did get rid of my acne prone skin – cleaning up my cystic and bumpy acne. But now I face a different problem that is sensitive skin.
Some days my face looks flawless, with a healthy glow, and I feel really good about my skin. But other days, it gets dull, uneven, sometimes blotchy red, etc. I don’t know what I do that causes these, but I really want to know how I can get back to those days where I have really nice looking skin.
Could be vitamin deficiency or an unhealthy diet? I take vitamin in tablet form everyday, and I eat very very healthy. I also drink a lot of water
I use Cetaphil daily facial cleanser for oily to normal skin, so I’m not using any soapy/foamy/dye cleansers.
I tone sometimes and I moisturize after cleansing every time. I use neutrogena healthy skin lotion with SPF 15, and it has a lot of very good antioxidants. I just started using it recently and it’s doing an okay job of diminishing acne/sun spots.
I also have had hive breakouts couple times a week, which I take Claritan for.
Exfoliating can sometimes be to harsh on my skin so I don’t do it often, maybe once a week.
I thought my skin irritation or whatever it is you want to call it was due to shaving my face, but I took extra steps to make sure I always get the best shave, so it’s not that.
I have a tan complexion, but when my face goes into irritation, dulness, blotchiness, uneveness, or whatever – it looks lighter, the skin around my eyes looks darker, my face looks more bumpy, and redness on my cheeks and bearded area.
Can anyone help me figure out why my face tweaks out? I have finally realized that i have sensitive skin, but i really want that skin that i get when it’s at its best (usually once a week or twice). I’ve done trial and error and I can’t figure out what it could be. Any advice would be cool.

Flaky, dry skin on my face?
Posted on 01. Sep, 2011 by Skin Expert.
I’ve been having really flaky and dry skin on my lower cheeks, like an inch to the side from the corner of my mouth. I also have dry flaky skin at the corners of my eyes up to my eyebrows and out almost to my hair line. It’s really annoying, and it looks bad, so I just want it to go away.
I’ve been using just warm water to wash my face at night, an Equate brand ‘complete beauty all day moisturizing lotion, SPF 15 sunscreen, sensitive skin’ face lotion, an Adapalene acne treatment gel on zits (but I don’t have any around or on the flaky area). Then in the morning I use the face lotion again, and then a cover-up treatment on red spots (there are sometimes a few on the flaky areas) and then a powder foundation all over. My face doesn’t get flaky for about 2 hours, and I would use the lotion I have that often except I’m in school and I don’t have time to go apply lotion between every class.
Thanks! I’m a 14 year old girl, FYI.

What's a good moisturizer for normal/combination skin?
Posted on 26. Aug, 2011 by Skin Expert.
I’m looking for a good moisturizer that will hydrate my face but won’t leave it greasy, clog my pores, or break me out. I’m currently using the Neutrogena Sensitive Skin one but I feel like it’s not hydrating enough…
I’m not exactly sure what skin type I have. Sometimes my t-zone will get oily (mostly my nose) but it’s nothing crazy or excessive & I usually don’t even get pimples there. My cheeks are where I tend to break out and they’re usually pretty normal but sometimes they tend to feel a bit tight and dry. I’m guessing this means I have normal/combination skin?
But anyway, if any one knows of a good moisturizer for my skin type, please do tell. ![]()

Will this help fade my acne scars?
Posted on 29. Jul, 2011 by Skin Expert.
I have sensitive skin and I break out so easily! I have a lot of scars on my cheeks and I really need them to fade! I just bought Ambi Skin Care Fade Cream with Vitamin E, Alpha hydroxide Acid and Sunscreen. Will this work? I’m only 16 if it matters and I’ve had these scars for a couple of months, not too long.

Toddler suddenly getting lots of BMs and diaper rash?
Posted on 25. Jul, 2011 by Skin Expert.
My 21-month-old suddenly went from 1-2 BMs a day to 4-5 the last two or three days. She has a rash that flares up everytime she has a BM diaper too. Last time she had this was at 15 months for her canines and 12 months for her first year molars. But, I’m hesitant to say it’s her second-year molars, since she’s been acting like she’s teething (grabbing on her mouth, slight temperature elevation, refusing solids she usually likes, rash on her cheeks) off and on for a few months now and the teeth never come in.
Any other options this could be? Oh, she also has a dry red rash on her legs right outside of her diaper that looks like a healing sunburn (but it’s not an area she was exposed to sun) and a slightly raised red rash the size of a penny, but not round, on one of her forearms…not sure if those are related, as she has sensitive skin and tends to get blotchy when I have to put sunblock on her.
